On Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019, at about 2 p.m., Wailuku Patrol Officers were assigned to a call from a homeless male regarding an unresponsive male on the grassy embankment on the easterly corner of Game Stop, near the entrance to Walmart in Kahului. There were no apparent signs of trauma.

The identity of the 57 year-old homeless male victim is being withheld until notification of next of kin. This investigation is on-going.

Maui police are currently investigating the discovery of a body found near Pakaula Street in Kahului.

Personnel with the Maui Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division are on scene conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.

Maui Police Sgt. John Sang has confirmed that there is one person deceased, but said further details about the incident are forthcoming.

Witnesses notified Maui Now of the investigation shortly before 2:49 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019.
