Thanksgiving Meals For Those in Need, Wednesday in Kahului, Thursday in Lahaina

The Salvation Army will be providing approximately 5,000 Thanksgiving holiday meals through annual meal events at locations statewide this week.

Here on Maui a Thanksgiving meal is planned today, Wednesday, Nov. 27, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the UH Maui College, Pāʻina Cafeteria Dining Room.

Those in need of a meal are encouraged to attend.  Social service partner agencies are directing clients to the event.

For those in West Maui, the LahainaTown Action Committee, with the help of local businesses and community members hosts the 30th Annual Thanksgiving Feast for those in need.

The Lahaina luncheon, made up of turkey and all the traditional holiday fixings, will be served on Thursday, Nov. 28, Thanksgiving Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the King Kamehameha III Elementary School cafeteria in Lahaina. The school is located at 611 Front Street in Lahaina. All are welcome to attend this free community luncheon.

Similar holiday meals are also planned in Hanapēpē, Honokaʻa and at the 49th annual Thanksgiving Meal at Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall in Honolulu, which feeds approximately 2,000 guests.

“With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, we wanted to highlight our annual Thanksgiving meal events by island,” said Major Jeff Martin, Divisional Leader for The Salvation Army Hawaiian & Pacific Islands.

“We encourage those in need of a meal who can’t attend our annual events, please reach out to The Salvation Army Corps in their community. A complete list of locations can be found at thanksgivinghawaii.org… We also partner with other social service agencies as well and they can direct clients to our Corps. And, Aloha United Way’s 211 is always a valuable resource,” said Major Martin.
