Mauiʻs young bodyboarders and surfers will showcase their talents in friendly competition at the 23rd annual Pāʻia Bay Beachfest.

Hosted by Positively+KAI (world-champion waterman Kai Lenny) and Pāʻia Youth & Cultural Center alumni and staff, the event has become a tradition for the islandʻs young board-riders.

Beachfest will feature special guests, emcees, several esteemed judges, and “plenty of fun surprises.”

Anyone interested in competing in the Beachfest may register here. Event check-in begins at 7a.m. on Jan. 25.

Athletes who wish to enter the “Winner Take All” Pro-Am division will need to bring $20 cash during check-in. Divisions include Menehune, Juniors, Wahine, Kane, Drop Knee and Maui’s only Soft-Top Surfing.

The event will be held at the Pā‘ia Youth & Cultural Center on Jan. 25 and 26. The first heat is in the water at 8 a.m. following the event blessing ceremony.

An awards ceremony and live music by PYCC alumni T-Flatz and the Plantation Kids kicks off at PYCC on Jan. 26 at 4 p.m.

This is an alcohol, drug and tobacco free event.
