In an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus, the Maui Tomorrow Foundationʻs STAND UP! SPEAK UP! Civic Engagement Workshop, which was scheduled for March 21, is being switched to an online webinar format.

Organizers say the workshop is “designed to help Maui community members learn how to effectively advocate for themselves, their families, their neighbors, and their island home at both the county and state levels. With facilitation provided by expert speakers, elected officials, and successful community activists, attendees will learn practical lessons and explore best practices when working to protect Maui’s land and to ensure sound ecological practices.”

  • Speakers and facilitators include:

Gary Hooser, President of Hawaii Alliance for Progressive Action
    Kelly King, Maui County Councilmember
    Mike Molina, Maui County Councilmember
Tina Wildberger, Representative, State House District 11
    Thorne Abbott, Coastal Planning Consultant
    Albert Perez, Maui Tomorrow Foundation
Lucienne de Naie, Sierra Club Hawai‘i
Simon Russell, Farm Maui, Hui ʻO Mālama ʻĀina
