The owner of Fleetwoodʻs on Front St. announced today that the restaurant is now closed in an effort to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, but is hoping to reopen in less than two weeks.

“Like most, we have been carefully monitoring the progression of the virus and have been strictly following the advice of our countyʻs public health authorities…The health and safety of our guests and Fleetwoodʻs employees continues to be our highest priority,” owner Mick Fleetwood wrote in a letter.

“As the virus continues to spread in communities throughout the US, we have made the difficult but important decision to close our restaurant, effective immediately…Although it is a difficult decision, we feel it is best for our guests, our employees, our partners, and our community of Maui as a whole.”

The letter also noted that restaurant leaders are implementing policies that will “lessen the financial burden on our restaurant team during this period.”
