During a live streamed afternoon update for Molokaʻi and Lānaʻi residents on Friday, Maui Mayor Michael Victorino shared that he tested negative for the coronavirus.
He acknowledged that proper use of a mask is to cover the nose as well as the mouth, as his staff had advised; but he noted that he was wearing it mainly because he was still coughing from being sick earlier.
Maui District Health Office’s Dr. Lorrin Pang who was sitting nearby said the Mayor is no longer infectious.
During his update, Mayor Victorino said COVDI-19 testing is currently available on Maui, Molokaʻi and Lānaʻi.
Those seeking help for symptoms are asked to call their provider or doctor and make sure they answer screening questions before coming in.
Lānaʻi has a drive through screening at the Lānaʻi Community Clinic.
Mayor Victorino noted that Maui, received an additional 200 kits, on top of the ones that were provided at an earlier date, and is on track to open a drive through testing location at the War Memorial Gymnasium parking lot on Monday, March 23.
