Social Distance Run to be Held on Lānaʻi

In an effort to keep the community safe and active while raising needed funds for keiki sports pograms, the Lānaʻi High & Elementary School Foundation and the Lānaʻi Community Health Center teamed up to create the first-ever “Social Distance Run.”

The event will replace the annual “Bunny Hop” run that has been traditionally held in April as a fundraiser for Lānaʻi Ballers which funds high school girls basketball. 

“The Social Distance Run is different in a number of ways,” said event coordinator MaryLou Kaukeano.

“Participants are asked to exercise daily in the Social Distance t-shirt with their shelter-in-place ʻohana throughout the month of May and post their efforts to #lanaiballers on Instagram or Imua Lānaʻi Facebook group. We also ask that they have face masks and other protective gear to protect the island,” she added. 

Participants, who can be from all over Hawaiʻi and the world, post photos of their exercise activities to qualify for lucky drawings for prizes.
