David Timmons

David Timmons

July 14, 1943 – Jan. 7, 2021

David Leary Timmons, 77, passed away peacefully on Jan. 7, 2021 in his sleep at his home in Kīhei, Maui. He was born on July 14, 1943 in Cambridge, MA to Frederick and Madelyn Timmons. He is survived by his two children, Tiffany and Rian.

Timmons lived a rich and fulfilling life as a stockbroker, cattle wrangler, traveler, friend, brother and father. Making friends was easy for him and he left an impression on everyone he met.

To his children, David was a loving father, a role model and a teacher, whom they shared great adventures in the mountains of Idaho and on the beaches of Baja. They also many battles playing Backgammon.


Big Wave Dave, we all miss you and we will always love you.

Helen Salvador Higdon-Dela Cruz, 52,
loving mother, grandmother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, and friend passed away Jan. 5, 2021. She was born May 3, 1968 in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines.

A drive-thru visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 23, from 10:30 a.m. to
12 p.m. at Ballard Family Mortuary. Cremation will follow.

Helen was predeceased by her parents, Sergio and Juanita Salvador. She is survived by her husband, Ceferino Dela Cruz; daughter, Michella (Joseph) Higdon; son, Hunter Higdon; daughter Chantei Dela Cruz; grandson Jaden Espiritu; siblings, Ramona (Romulo) Simeon, Simeon (Rebecca) Salvador, Alberto (Josie) Salvador, Jaime (Ely) Salvador, Romualdo (Raquel) Salvador, Tony (Analyn) Salvador and Mila (Chris) Stillings.

Greg Hanks

Feb. 13, 1957 – Dec. 24, 2020

Greg S. Hanks, 63, of Pukalani was born in Salt Lake City Utah and moved to Hawaiʻi at age 3. He passed in Hāliʻimaile, HI on Dec. 24, 2020.

Greg worked in the construction industry for more than 35 years and he took great pride in his work. He loved and took care of his family, and enjoyed riding his Harley. He was a tough man, but had a heart of gold. He was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. Although he may be gone, he will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his wife Cindy Hanks, children Sheldon and Sheron Hanks, son-in-law Kawika Baraoidan, grandchildren Justin, Greg, Madison, Sheldon, Liana, Michiko, Jake and hanai grandson Tristian Arcangel.


He was predeceased by his mother Maxine.

He is also survived by his father Lowell Hanks and siblings Rick (Marilyn) Hanks, Mark (Karen) Hanks, Kyle (Christen) Hanks and Loalee Reyes.

Drive through visitation was held Jan. 17 at Ballard Mortuary in Kahului.

Billy “Malu” Maluhia Plunkett Jr.

March 15, 1977 – Dec. 20, 2020

Billy Maluhia Plunkett, Jr., 43, of Maui, HI, passed away Dec. 20, 2020 in Utah. He was born on March 15, 1977 in Wailuku, Maui.

Malu is survived by his beloved wife, Tiffani-Jean Plunkett; his children, Analisse (Theo) Auelua, Maluhia “Bull” (Taniya) Plunkett, Razjah Plunkett, Zayven Plunkett, Xyiah Plunkett; mother, Larrie Plunkett; and siblings, Aulani (Leo) Delatori, Kanani (Shane) Adolpho, Uilani (Vincent) Maae, Konapiliahi (Laura) Plunkett, Kolonahe (Mahinalani) Plunkett; 2 grandchildren (1 due in March, 1 due in June); granduncles, Larry (Colleen) Ng, Jr., Vince (Mark) Ng, Sam (Dee-deceased) Plunkett, Charles (Yvonne) Plunkett, John (Florence) Plunkett; grandmother, Yukie Ng; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Billy was predeceased by his father, Billy Plunkett Sr. and grandparents, Lulu Enos Ng, Larry Ng, Sr. and Charles and Helen Kukahiko Plunkett.

Malu previously worked for Southwest Airlines, USPS Utah, County of Maui (DWS) and Lowe’s. He loved coaching and previously coached football at Baldwin High School and Kamehameha Schools Maui Campus.

He was a kind-hearted, hard-working, humble, quiet, helpful, loving and caring peacemaker and always tried to look for the positives in every situation and in every person. He loved his high school sweetheart and his children and they were sealed for time and all eternity in the LDS Kona Hawaiʻi Temple. He was looking forward to becoming a grandfather in 2021. He was the oldest son and became the patriarch of the family after his dad died.

Although this loss is devastating, we know that families can be together forever. Private family services were held Jan. 10, 2021.
