Subaru Hawai‘i will donate more than $50,000 total in matching donations to select local nonprofits across Hawai‘i during its first Love in Action campaign. This campaign replaces its Share the Love Sales Event, which typically donated $250 per vehicle sold during November and December.

“Love in Action is our effort to live up to our commitment of being ‘more than a car company,’ by giving in ways that are independent of car sales and instead focuses on supporting our community partners and their vital services,” said Peter Dames, executive vice president, Subaru Hawai‘i.

The following Hawai‘i-based organizations have been selected for 2021:

  • Humane Societies of Hawai‘i (Hawai‘i Island Kona, Hawai‘i Island Kea‘au, Maui, O‘ahu and Kaua‘i)
  • Project Vision
  • Mana Maoli
  • Hui Ho‘oleimaluō
  • Child & Family Service

“Providing compassionate care for animals in need is at the heart of what we do at the Hawai‘i Island Humane Society’s locations in Keaau and Kona. Mahalo to Subaru Hawai‘i for helping our organization put “Love in Action” on Hawai‘i Island to help people and their pets in need,” said Lauren Nickerson, Hawai‘i Island Humane Society Chief Executive Officer.

As part of the Love in Action campaign, Subaru Hawai‘i will be waiving up to $15,000 in pet adoption fees for the Humane Societies statewide on November 14. For the other four nonprofit organizations, Subaru Hawai‘i will match up to $500 for each individual donation up to $10,000 total per nonprofit until December 31, 2021.

In addition, Subaru Hawai‘i has also partnered with its brand ambassador, musician and artist Paula Fuga, to launch a five-part online video series launching on November 8, 2021. New episodes will premiere every Monday through December 6 at SubaruHawaii.com/LoveinAction and will showcase Fuga and one of her best friends as they visit a nonprofit to highlight their work.

“It’s an incredible opportunity to spotlight several local nonprofit organizations that I hold close to my heart,” said Paula Fuga. “I am so fortunate to collaborate with Subaru Hawai‘i, whose Love Promises align with my own, and tell the stories of amazing people and organizations who provide essential services to our community.”

“We are honored to be able to work with our Subaru Hawai‘i Ambassador, Paula Fuga, on showcasing those who work tirelessly to make our community more resilient,” said Dames.
