Shown pounding poi, Deashia-Lei (left) and Natasha Chang will present a 12:50 p.m. ku‘i-kalo demonstration/tasting at this Saturday’s free tour of their fourth-generation Chang Farms.

“If it’s Saturday, plant bamboo and sugar cane, and harvest limu (seaweed) and shellfish in tide pools under a half moon. Learn these cultural insights at Saturday’s Chang Farms tour in South Maui,” organizers said.

The event unfolds from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 19 at 5075 Mākena Road, at a 6-acre multigenerational farm in the Kukahiko-Chang genealogical line.

Guided tours begin at 9 and 11 a.m., and 1:20 p.m. The lineup for the event’s four workshops includes the following:

  • 10 a.m.: Traditional Hawaiian moon-calendar planting/fishing guide
  • 11:40 a.m.: Poke-kalo food demonstration
  • 12 p.m.: Living Earth Systems regenerative farming with Eddy Garcia
  • 12:50 p.m.: Kalo pounding for poi
