Mental Health America of Hawaiʻi’s 4th Annual Maui Suicide Prevention Mini Conference, “Resilience, Renewal and Recovery,” is scheduled for Jan. 25, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the King Kamehameha Golf Club in Wailuku. The event is sponsored by Kamehameha Schools, Hui No Ke Ola Pono, Nā Hoaloha ‘Ekolu, Papa Ola Lōkahi and Pharma .
“The events of the last few months have impacted the mental health and wellbeing of those living in the County of Maui and in response, the Mental Health America of Hawaiʻi Mini Conference will have speakers and panelists, all from Maui County, who have all felt the ongoing community grief we are experiencing,” according to an event announcement.
The January conference will include Maui speakers Hawkeye Landis, and Dr. Adam Coles presenting on suicide prevention, wellness, and the importance of building and maintaining resilient communities as the island and its residents move forward towards recovery.
Registration is available online.
To provide support to those directly impacted, MHAH is offering a handful of scholarships to offset the cost of attendance. “Through these select scholarships, we hope to help remove obstacles for those in need of this healing space,” organizers said. Scholarships are limited to Maui County residents and will be issued in order of receipt.
