Swell Summary
The strong trades will continue to generate rough, choppy surf along east facing shores through the weekend, gradually easing early next week. Surf along north and west facing shores will rise as a new long-period north-northwest swell fills in tonight and peaks Saturday, then diminish Sunday. Peak surf heights will approach High Surf Advisory levels along exposed north facing shores on Saturday.
A pair of moderate- sized, long- period northwest swell is possible Monday into Wednesday of next week. Both of these swells, should start to fill in on Monday and peak around Tuesday. Latest ASCAT showed winds well above hurricane-force with the low pressure system east of Japan. This increases the potential for this swell to come in larger than guidance and we could see surf approach the advisory levels once again on Tuesday. Another larger north- northwest swell is possible towards the end of next week. A small, long-period southwest swell is possible late Saturday into early next week.
