Akakū Upstairs: Generative AI & the Essence of Art, an evening exploring the intersection of art and artificial intelligence, is scheduled for Thursday, July 18 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The public event, presented by the Hawaiʻi Center for AI and Akakū Upstairs, discusses “What about art makes it so ripe for AI collaboration?” as well as creative tips and tricks from a team of professional AI artists. Its panelists include:

  • Filipa Kinomoto: Accomplished professional AI artist (kinomotomag.com)
  • Swallja: 2x Grammy-nominated musician turned AI artist and developer (swallja.art)
  • John and Dara Semerad: RunwayML representatives (runwaym.com) and producers of the award winning AI short film, “A Tree Once Grew Here”

Moderated by Peter Dresslar, Director of Hawaiʻi Center for AI and host of the AI Morning Show, this salon will provide a unique opportunity to learn from artists and experts at the forefront of AI and art. A hands-on workshop using Generative AI tools will follow the panel discussion.
