After five years away due to the pandemic and Maui wildfires, Montessori School of Maui announced the return of their tuition assistance fundraiser, Taste of Upcountry. This celebration of the bounty of Upcountry Maui takes place Saturday, Sept. 14, from 6-10 p.m. The outdoor event, held under a glowing tent on the central lawn at the heart of the school’s Makawao campus, supports Montessori School of Maui’s Tuition Assistance Initiatives in an effort to make a Montessori Education more accessible, welcoming, and inclusive for our community.

Taste of Upcountry is designed to showcase the talent, vibrancy, and supportive community of Maui’s renowned chefs and Upcountry farmers and purveyors. The evening will feature 10 culinary stations presenting sweet and savory plates by Charcuterie Plus Bar, Four Seasons Maui, LunchBox Maui, Makawao Public House, Marlow, Maui Breadfruit Company, Nicole Scharer Events, Tommy Bahama, Buzz Cakes Maui, and Maui Coffee Roasters.

In the true spirit of community, Montessori School of Maui purposefully gathers friends, neighbors, and families on campus for this festive fall celebration of local agriculture and food purveyors, while investing in a bright future for our island’s keiki.

“Our school community feels tremendously grateful and truly lucky to have the participation of these extraordinary chefs, restaurants, and culinary leaders,” said John Carlstroem, Montessori’s new Head of School.

“Montessori School of Maui is dedicated to serving families who know their children would thrive in a Montessori environment, but may not have the means to provide this opportunity without some additional support. Anyone who attends this event will surely feel that they are part of a unique, honorable, and fun effort to support families who are in need of extra support to do what’s best regarding their child’s education.”

Festivities will include musical performances by Gretchen Rhodes and a silent and live auction. Event proceeds directly support Montessori School of Maui’s Tuition Assistance Initiatives. The event is 21 and over, BYOB, and open to the public. General Admission starts at $100; VIP Tables at $3,000.
