Central East Maui advances in Little League World Series, after defeating Pennsylvania 3-1
The Central East Maui All-Stars defeated Pennsylvania 3-1 in their fourth game of the Little League World Series. The victory over Council Rock Newtown Little League, the Mid-Atlantic regional representative, puts the Maui boys within two games of the US Championships.
The Maui 12U boys move on to play at 1 p.m. Hawaiʻi time (7 p.m. ET) on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024 against the winner of the Southeast (Lake Mary Little League of Florida) vs. Metro (South Shore Little League of Staten Island, New York) game.
Central Maui struck out 13 hitters today, with strong pitching led by Evan Tavares, and closed by Kanon Nakama. The Maui team must win two more games to make it to the US Championship game.
They are now 3-1 for the series.

The Maui 12U boys secured their spot in the Little League World Series after winning the West Region title two weeks ago. The 2024 Little League World Series, presented by T-Mobile, runs from Aug. 14 to 25 at Lamande Stadium in Williamsport, Pa. Itʻs only the second time that a Maui team in the majors division has made it this far. The last time was in 2019.
The Maui team is comprised of: Gauge Pacheco, Evan Tavares, Brextyn Hong, Kanon Nakama, Hayden Takahashi, Eassie Miller, Kellen Takamura, Cam Kaneshiro, Gabriel Laloulu, Kolten Magno, Matthew Yang, Kamalei Leynes-Santos and Jet Pontes.
