Kīhei, Wailuku pools, Central Maui tennis courts to be closed temporarily

The closure of Kīhei Aquatic Center has been extended to Aug. 25 for installation of a new chlorination system, the County Department of Parks and Recreation announced.

The facility is expected to reopen Aug. 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Other temporary closures of Parks and Recreation facilities include:

  • Coach Soichi Sakamoto Pool will be closed from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Aug. 22, for testing of pool guard trainees. The facility will reopen from 1 to 4 p.m. that day for lap and recreational swimming.
  • Tennis courts at Wells Park and War Memorial Complex in Wailuku and Kahului Community Center Park will be closed for maintenance from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24. The maintenance is being coordinated through the County Department of Parks and Recreation, tennis community leaders and private organizations. The tennis courts are expected to be reopened at 11 a.m.
