Slightly Stoopid is set to perform at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center with special guests Steel Pulse and Makua Rothman on Sunday, Sept. 15. Gates open at the outdoors Alexander & Baldwin Amphitheater at 5 p.m., and the show begins at 6 p.m.

As a musical brotherhood since 1995, Slightly Stoopid, led by the vastly versatile duo of Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald, has expanded its fusion of rock, reggae, acoustic soul, hip hop, heavy metal, and punk rock, and achieved artistic freedom and commercial success while subscribing to their own DIY ethos.

Steel Pulse continues to be revolutionary in engaging controversial topics of racial injustice and human rights on a global scale. Their musical stance and conceptualizations are as potent and relevant today as they were in the ’70s and ’80s, when the reggae band released hits like “Your House,” “Steppin’ Out” and “Roller Skates.”

The evening also features special guest Makua Rothman, from Oʻahu. Rothman is a professional big-wave surfer and WSL Big Wave World Champion. He had not considered music as a career until 2012, when his friend Rob Garcia told him that people should hear his music. A few months later, he released his first EP “Makanale Road.” He released his full-length album, “Sound Wave,” in 2013.

Tickets are sold online only: starting at $49.50 (GA) and $99.50 (VIP), all plus applicable fees. No concert seating is provided at either price. Prices increase the day of show. VIP ticket holders receive access to designated restrooms and front of stage area. Over 21 VIP ticket holders also receive exclusive access to the Yokouchi Pavillion bars.

No outside food or beverages are allowed including water bottles. Strollers, umbrellas, beach chairs, coolers, bags, backpacks, large purses or anything with a hard frame will not be permitted in the venue.
