Holy Rosary Church announces inaugural golf tournament to support historic church
The Holy Rosary Church has announced an inaugural golf tournament set to take place on Saturday, Sept. 21 at The Dunes at Maui Lani Golf Course in Kahului. The special event doubles as a friendly competition and vital fundraiser to support the ongoing restoration and preservation of one of Maui’s most cherished historic landmarks.
Holy Rosary Church stated in a press release that its beloved pillar of the community, has stood as a beacon of faith, culture, and service for generations; however, the years have taken their toll, and the church is now in dire need of repairs and restoration. This golf tournament is a call to the community to come together in the spirit of aloha and extend their warm kōkua to ensure that Holy Rosary Church continues to serve the people of Maui for years to come.
“We are thrilled to host this inaugural golf tournament as a way to bring our community together in support of a cause that touches the hearts of so many,” said John Costales, parish council chair. “Holy Rosary Church has been a cornerstone of faith and culture on Maui, and with the community’s help, we can preserve its legacy for future generations.”
Participants will enjoy a day of golf at one of Maui’s premier courses, with check-in and breakfast catered by chef Joey Macadangdang’s Balai Pata, starting at 6 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 7 a.m. The tournament will be followed by refreshments and an awards luncheon catered by chef Tante Urban of Tante’s Island Cuisine at St. Anthony’s Cafeteria. The luncheon will feature a delicious spread, as well as the presentation of awards to tournament winners and participants.
Thanks to Calasa Trucking, LLC and Yuki Lei Sugimura, participants have the chance to win large-screen smart TVs, and every golfer is eligible to win dozens of incredible gifts and prizes. Whether you’re a top-tier golfer or simply out to have a great time, this tournament is for you.
Holy Rosary Church thanks sponsors for the event including The Westin Maui Resort & Spa Kāʻanapali, Old Lahaina Lūʻau, Wailea Beach Resort, Fairmont Kealani, Maui Soda, and Maui Arts and Cultural Center.
