The County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation will be hosting one-day mass permitting events for summer 2025 private-party rentals ofcommunity centers in three districts.

In recent months, permit office operations in the Central, West, and South districts have been impacted by staff shortages or building safety issues. In an effort to provide access to the community to make reservations for the summer 2025 period, the department is announcing the one-day summer permitting events in each district.

During the one-day permitting events, reservations for permits can be made on a first-come, first-served basis for general-use, private-party activities occurring from May 1, 2025, through Aug. 31, 2025.

General-use activities being permitted at the community centers are private parties such as those for graduations, weddings, retirements and birthdays.

Reservations will be accepted only for the community center locations within that district on the district permitting event date. To make a reservation, applicants must bring a valid government-issued photo identification. In an effort to serve everyone, only one transaction per person will be accommodated. Payments must be made by cash or personal check from the applicant only.  Exact change is encouraged for those paying by cash.

The department isanticipatingvery high demand during each permitting event, and residents are encouraged toplan and prepare for long wait times and possible exposure to the elements while standingin line on that day. Due to multiple construction projects and related safety concerns, early bird arrivals who show up prior to the day of the permitting event will be turned away. Windows will open at 8 a.m. for each day of the permitting event.
