No emergency: Reports of outdoor warning siren sounding in Pāʻia

There are multiple reports of an Outdoor Warning Siren sounding in the Pāʻia Bay area. The Maui Emergency Management Agency reports there is NO emergency.

MEMA is investigating a potential malfunction in the siren and has notified the Hawaiʻi Emergency Management Agency to conduct maintenance on the siren.

The incident was reported to Maui Police dispatch at 8:05 a.m. A MEMA alert advising of no emergency was issued at 8:26 a.m.
