Nonprofit Directors to announce award winners at annual meeting; tickets available

The Maui Nonprofit Directors Association will be announcing the Humanitarian, Business and Executive Director of the Year award winners at the association’s annual meeting, 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 10, at the Maui Beach Hotel Ballroom.

Nominees for the Humanitarian of the Year are: Bri Collo, Greg Peros and Justin Yanagida.

Nominees for the Business of the Year are: Hawaiʻi Community Foundation, Highridge Costa, Island Catering, Maui Ku‘ia Estate Chocolate, Mason Services of Hawaiʻi and T S Restaurants.

Nominees for Executive Director of the Year are: Matthew Bachman, Habitat for Humanity; Paige Deponte, Spirit Horse Ranch; Courtney Ikawa, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Maui; Susie Thieman, Lokahi Pacific; King Van Norstrand, Na Hoaloha; and Art Vento, Maui Arts & Cultural Center.

In addition to the awards, the new MNDA officers will be installed by 2nd Circuit District and Family Court Judge James Rouse. The officers are: Paul Tonnessen, president; JD Wyatt, vice president; Kandice Johns, secretary; and Richard Carr, treasurer. The board members at large are Bevanne Bowers, Courtney Ikawa, Nicole Hokoana, and Maggie Pulver.

RSVPs for the Maui Nonprofit Directors Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner must be made no later than Monday, Sept. 30.

There is no cost for MNPD members and nominees, who can bring one guest. For all other guests, the cost is $50.

Registration and payments can be made by going to the MNPD website at https://www.mauinonprofit.org/, then clicking on the “Events & Training” tab at the top of the page and on the “2024 Annual Meeting & Leadership Awards” link. Options for MNPD members and nominees and nonmembers can be found on the page.

The names of all attendees need to be included in the notes.
