TIMOR SEA (Sept. 27, 2024) – Chief Fire Controlman Sean Slater of Wailuku, Maui, received his combination cover during a chief petty officer pinning ceremony aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Dewey (DDG 105) while operating in the Timor Sea, Sept. 27, 2024.
Dewey is forward-deployed and assigned to Destroyer Squadron 15, the Navy’s largest DESRON and the US 7th Fleet’s principal surface force.
As part of the ceremony, members sang “Anchors Aweigh” and other international vessels sailed alongside while conducting multilateral operations. Both the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Murasame-class JS Ariake (DD 109) and the Royal Australian Navy frigate HMAS Stuart (FFG 153) were observed during the event.
