55th Maui Marathon draws thousands back to the West Side

The 55th Annual Maui Marathon made a heartfelt return to West Maui this past weekend, drawing more than 2,200 runners and walkers alike across the full marathon, half marathon, 10K, and 5K events.
This year’s race marked the first time the event returned to the west side since the 2023 Lahaina wildfires, making it a meaningful and emotional experience for many participants and residents.
“Wow, what an incredible day for all the runners and walkers. It was such a beautiful tribute to Lahaina,” said race director Jim Lynch. “Everyone seemed so grateful to have this event back on the west side, and it felt like being right at home. It was hot, but that didn’t stop over 2,200 runners from being at the start line — pumped up and ready to conquer their goals after months of hard training. On behalf of the Maui Marathon Committee, we want to thank everyone who participated. You all made the 2025 Maui Marathon an unforgettable experience.”
Winning the overall men’s title was Jake Gibbs with a finish time of 2 hours, 53 minutes and 55 seconds. For the women, Grace Chow won the overall female title with a finish time of 3 hours, 1 minute and 9 seconds.

The event served as a symbol of community pride, bringing together race participants, spectators, and volunteers to honor the spirit of Lahaina and the tradition of the Maui Marathon.
The Maui Marathon event is the longest consecutively held running event in the state of Hawaiʻi, the oldest marathon west of the Mississippi River.
