13 join Maui Police Department ranks after graduating with 97th Recruit Class

The Maui Police Department’s 97th Recruit Class held its graduation ceremony at the Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui on Friday, May 9, 2025.

During the ceremony, Recruit Cal Alexander was honored with the Outstanding Recruit Award. He also earned the Neil T. Endo Outstanding Firearms Award.

Other awards presented were the following:

  • Sensei Shinichi Suzuki Award for Arrest and Defense Tactics: Recruit Thomas Stevenson
  • M. Cecil “Rusty” Dickson Physical Fitness Award: Recruit Thomas Stevenson
  • Outstanding Notebook Award: Recruit Sione Vaivela
  • Scholastic Achievement Award: Recruit Kade Mac Donald

The new officers are Cal Alexander, Eduardo Antonio III, Jaydon Borawski, Aaron Delima, Amber Donnelly, Troy Huber, Kade Mac Donald, Rachel-Lee Scott, Nathaniel Steadman, Thomas Stevenson, Kalae Tom, Sione Vaivela, and Austin Viloria.

The newly graduated officers will undergo a minimum of four months of on-the-job field training with veteran police officers before being qualified to work alone.
