Maui Economic Opportunity’s Nicanor Saladino works with an applicant for the Hawaiʻi Home Energy Assistance Program (H-HEAP) electricity and gas credits in June 2023. The application period for this year’s program runs June 1 to June 30.

The annual Hawaiʻi Home Energy Assistance Program (H-HEAP), which offers credits on utility bills for income-qualifying households, will accept applications between June 1 and June 30 at Maui Economic Opportunity offices in Wailuku, Hāna, Lānaʻi City and Kaunakakai, Molokaʻi.

H-HEAP provides a credit on electricity and gas accounts through Hawaiian Electric and Hawaiʻi Gas based on income and number of people in the household. The state determines the amount of assistance based on funding, and MEO assists in processing applications.

This is a popular program with MEO handling about 1,200 applications annually.
