One person displaced following Malaihi Road structure fire

Malaihi Road fire. (6.8.25) PC: Maui Fire Department.

One person was displaced after a fire destroyed a single-story structure off Malaihi Road in Wailuku, Sunday night. This person was checked out at the scene for injuries by Emergency Medical Services personnel and was being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The fire was reported at 7:28 p.m. on June 8. Firefighters arrived to find the structure fully involved, and extended hose lines to extinguish the fire and protect neighboring structures.

Fire officials say damage to the structure was a total loss. Damages were estimated at $10,000 for the structure and its contents. A vehicle on the property was also damaged.

Units responding to the scene included: Engine 1, Engine 10, Tanker 10, Rescue 10, a battalion chief and a fire investigator.

The fire was brought under control at 8:10 p.m., and was extinguished at 9:55 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
