Update: 11:31 a.m., Feb. 9, 2026: Utility lines are down on the road on Honoapiʻilani Highway on the Lahaina side of Waikapū on 30. MPD is on scene. Be prepared for delays.

Update: 11:25 a.m., Feb. 9, 2026: A landslide is blocking both lanes at Mile 14.9 on Hāna Highway in between Kaumahina State Wayside Park and Keʻanae Peninsula. A crew is enroute. Estimated time for cleanup/opening of the road is one hour.

Update: 11:07 a.m., Feb. 9, 2026: Rocks and debris are blocking the Hāna bound lane at Mile 12 of the Hāna Highway near Kaumahina State Wayside Park. A crew is en route.

Update: 11:07 a.m., Feb. 9, 2026: The signal at North and South Kīhei Road intersection is back up and running. Electricians continue to work in Lahaina.

11 a.m. updates from the County of Maui:

  • Hāna Highway via Haʻikū and Kaupō has been restricted to local access due to safety concerns from fallen trees and landslides; several road message boards have been posted.
  • ʻUlaino and Waikoloa roads in Hāna are closed due to flooding from riverbed and other weather impacts.
  • Due to safety concerns from downed trees and power lines, Baldwin Avenue is closed at Keʻe Road in Makawao, Piʻiholo Road is closed in the area of 1670 Piʻiholo Road and Olinda Road is closed in the area of 2640 Olinda Road.
  • Kealaloa Avenue is closed between Haleakalā Highway and Hanamu Road due to running water crossing the road.
  • Dairy Road is closed between Hāna and Haleakalā highways extension and from Alamaha Street to Hāna Highway due to flooding making the road impassable.
  • Both lanes of Hāna Highway at Mile Marker 14 is closed due to large landslide. For Maui Police Department (MPD) road closure notifications, visit https://www.mauicounty.gov/643/Road-Closure-Notifications.

Update: 10:54 a.m., Feb. 9, 2026: A boulder is blocking the Hāna bound lane on Hāna Highway at MM 10 in the vicinity of the Garden of Eden. A crew is en route.

Update: 9:53 a.m, Feb. 9, 2026: Electricians are responding to flashing signals at the intersection of North and South Kīhei Road and intersections of Honoapiʻilani Hwy. at both Kai Hele Kū St. and Hōkiokio Pl. Motorists should treat the area as a four-way stop.

Update: 8:49 a.m., Feb. 9, 2026: Baldwin Avenue remains closed near the cemetery in Makawao due to downed trees and powerlines.

Update: 7:02 a.m., Feb. 9, 2026: Kealaloa Ave at Haleakalā Hwy and Hanamu Rd. The roadway closed due to roadway conditions.

Update: 5:24 a.m., Feb. 9, 2026: Rocks and debris are blocking the Hāna bound lane at Mile 12 on Hāna Hwy. near Kaumahina State Wayside Park. A crew is en route.

Update: 10:46 p.m., Feb. 8, 2026: Olinda Road at Piʻiholo Road intersection is closed due to trees and powerlines on the roadway.
