Injured hiker rescued after fall in ʻĪao Valley

A 21-year-old Maui woman was rescued from ʻĪao Valley on Maui after falling while hiking along the river Thursday morning. The incident was reported at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026.
Fire officials say the woman was unable to walk out due to an ankle and arm injury from the fall.
Rescue 10 firefighters from Engine 1 responded to the incident and set up a rope system to lift the woman up to the road where she was checked out by Emergency Medical Services personnel.
Crews concluded their response at 1:13 p.m.
