Here is an ongoing list of road closures impacting Maui County as a result of winds, rain and flooding associated with Tropical Cyclone Lala. Check back for updates, which will be posted as they become available.

8:15 p.m., 8.17.26: Makawao Avenue between Kailiili Road and Kee Road was closed due to heavy flooding in the area. ROADWAY IS NOW OPEN.
8:10 p.m., 8.17.26: The roadway on Kaupakakalua Road Between West Kuiaha Road and Nilu Place was previously closed due to downed powerlines and trees. ROADWAY IS NOW OPEN.
2:18 p.m., 8.17.26: Baldwin Ave/Kee Rd Intersection is NO LONGER closed due to tree and electrical lines down. The road is now OPEN.
1:46 p.m., 8.17.26: ʻĪao Valley Road is NO LONGER closed due to down trees and electrical lines. The road is now OPEN.
1:37 p.m., 8.17.26: Partial road closure on Piʻilani Highway 31 (ʻUlupalakua Store) due to down Eucalyptus trees, Road is Passable – One Lane Only.
5:36 p.m., 8.16.26: Crater Road (Route 378), is closed between mile marker 2 to 8 due to multiple downed trees
5:36 p.m., 8.16.26: Crews continue to work on removing a larger tree at mile marker 6 on Kekaulike Avenue (Route 377) in Kula.
5:26 p.m, 8.16.26: On Hāna Highway (Route 360), crews continue to clear trees and debris in different areas, local only traffic is advised.
5:17 p.m., 8.16.26: Kaupakalua Road is closed from 1090 Kaupakalua Rd to Pakanu St due to a downed tree and power lines
12:03 p.m., 8.16.26: Awalau Rd is closed from 311 Awalau Rd and up due to downed powerlines.
11:29 a.m., 8.16.26: Piʻilani Hwy (31) is closed at mile marker 37 (in the area of 13700 Piʻilani Hwy — the Nuʻu Culvert is overflowing.
10:26 p.m., 8.15.26: Road Closure on Piʻilani Highway 31 (ʻUlupalakua Store) due to down Eucalyptus trees.
9:51 p.m., 8.15.26: ʻĪao Valley Rd is closed due to down trees and electrical lines.
9:47 p.m., 8.15.26: Kaniela St between Vineyard St and Nani St is closed due to leaning electrical pole. Open to residential traffic only.
9:42 p.m,. 8.15.26: Road Closure Baldwin Ave/Kee Rd Intersection closed due to tree and electrical lines down.
5:27 p.m., 8.15.26: Road closed from 2741 Kaupakalua Rd. to 2760 Kaupakalua Rd., due to fallen poles and lines
5:22 p.m., 8.15.26: Update: Officers have also closed Kaupakalua at Haloa

1:54 p.m, 8.15.26, Tree down blocking one lane of Honoapiʻilani Highway between Lahainaluna Road and Keawe Street. A crew is en route.
12:19 p.m., 8.15.26, Update: Local traffic only at 798 Piʻiholo Rd to Waiahiwi Rd. from intersection of Waiahiwi and Piiholo.
- Previous post: 12:04 p.m., 8.15.26: Due to heavy flooding in the area of 798 Piʻiholo, the road is currently closed from 798 Piiholo to Waiahiwi.
12:16 p.m., 8.15.26, Molokaʻi: A tree is down and blocking one lane at Mile 10.2 on Kamehameha V Highway. A state crew is en route.
11:01 a.m., 8.15.26: Makawao Avenue is now OPEN between Kailili Rd and Kee Rd. Public Works was able to clear area.

9:36 a.m.: One lane closed on Hāna Highway Rte. 19 at MM 19 due to fallen tree. Crew on scene.
8:44 a.m., 8.15.26: Update: Road Closure at Kaupakalua Rd between W. Kuiaha and Nilu Pl. One lane open / road way is passable one lane. Signage posted.
8:33 a.m., 8.15.26: Piʻiholo Rd update: One lane open / road way is passable one lane. Signage posted.
7 a.m., 8.15.26: Tree down blocking one lane on Hāna Highway at mile 13.6. A state crew is en route.
5:49 a.m., 8.15.26: Kaupakalua Road closure in Haʻikū: Both directions of Kaupakalua Road, between West Kuiaha Road and Nilu Place are currently closed, due to a downed tree and downed power lines. The Mauka bound lane of Kaupakalua Road and Nilu Place, is currently open to residents only.
3:29 a.m., 8.15.26: The roadway fronting the area of 960 Piʻiholo Road is completely open at this time however, the entire roadway at the intersection of Piʻiholo Road and Ehu Road, is still closed due to downed power lines.
- (Previous post: 2:10 a.m., 8.15.26: Both lanes of Piʻiholo Road, between the intersection of Piʻiholo Road and Ehu Road, and the area fronting 960 Piʻiholo Road in Makawao are currently closed due to downed trees. The roadway between these areas is not passable at this time).

Other Counties:

11:20 a.m., 8.18.26: Hawaiʻi Police Department reports that Plumerias St. between Hawaiʻi Belt Rd (Hwy. 19) and Lehua St. is open to all traffic. The Hawaiʻi Police Department thanks you for your cooperation.
8:02 a.m, 8.17.26: The Hawaiʻi Police Department reports that the emergency repairs to the bridges on Highway 11 between mile markers 49 and 52 near Pahala are for First Responder use only.
1:27 p.m., 8.16.26: Hawaiʻi Police Department advises you that Mamalahoa Hwy (Route 190) is OPEN in both directions. However, due to fallen trees and downed powerlines, there is a detour on Mamalahoa Hwy (Route190), between Kaiminani Dr. and Ahikawa St. Drive with caution, road crews in the area.
12:45 p.m., 8.16.26: Hawaiʻi Police Department reports that Route 19 is open to all traffic. The Hawaiʻi Police Department thanks you for your cooperation.
12:07 p.m., 8.16.26: Hawaiʻi PD reports that Kahikopele Street in Mt. View is open to all traffic. HPD thanks you for your cooperation.
6:59 a.m., 8.16.26: Hawaiʻi Police Department advises you to AVOID Route 19 near 12 mile marker due to fallen trees for the next 3 hours.
6:09 a.m., 8.16.26: The Hawaiʻi Police Department advises that Highway 11 (between the 74 & 64 mile markers) remains CLOSED due to hazardous road conditions.
5:11 a.m., 8.16, 26: Hawaiʻi Police Department advises you to AVOID Route 190, between Daniel K. Inouye Hwy. and Kaiminani Drive due to Low hanging power lines and debris on roadway for the next 6 hours.
5:07 a.m., 8.16.26: Hawaiʻi Police Department reports that Route 190, between Kaiminani Drive and Hinalani Street is OPEN to all traffic.
2:59 a.m., 8.16.26: Hawaiʻi Police Department advises you to AVOID Route 190, between Kaiminani Drive and Hinalani Street due to low hanging power lines and debris on roadway for the next 6 hours.
1:17 a.m., 8.16.26: Hawaiʻi Police Department advises you to AVOID Kuakini Hwy in Kailua-Kona. A Traffic Collision at the Kuakini Hwy and Palani Road Intersection has caused a lane closure. The right-turn lane from Palani Road onto Kuakini Hwy is CLOSED due to a fallen traffic signal.
10:17 p.m., 8.15.16: Kauaʻi: (not storm related) Single lane alternating traffic on Kaumualiʻi Highway at mile 5 near Knudsen Gap. Vehicle ran into tree and the tree is down.
7:14 p.m., 8.15.26: Hawaiʻi Police Department advises you to AVOID Mamalahoa Hwy (Route 190), between Hao Kuni Street (36-mile marker) and Puulani Drive (21-mile marker). Road is OPEN; however, due to strong winds and consistent raining, there are fallen trees and large debris on the roadway.
Big Island Road closures as of 5 p.m. 8.15.26:
- Highway 19: closed at mile marker 53.7
- Highway 250: closed between mile markers 2.5 and 21.5.
- Highway 11: closed between mile markers 57 and 62.
- Highway 11: closed between mile markers 65 and 66.
- Highway 270: closed at mile markers 2 and 5.
- Highway 11: closed at mile markers 54 and 65.
- Highway 11: single-lane closure between mile markers 67 and 69.
- Highway 19: single-lane closure Hilo Bayfront.
- Kalapana-Kapoho Beach Road: closed at mile marker 14.
- Kamehameha Avenue between Ponahawai Street and Manono Street.
- Government Beach Road from Hawaiians Shores to Waa Waa Road (residents only).
- Haao Springs Road.
- North Kulani Road
- Laupahoehoe Road (one lane open).
- Kaʻalaiki Road (Cane Haul Road).
- Mud Lane.
- East Kawailani Street between Hoonani Place and Kamalii Street.
4:57 p.m., 8.15.26: Hawaii Police Department advises you to AVOID Mamalahoa Hwy (Route 190), between Hina Lani Street and Puulani Drive. Road is OPEN; however, due to strong winds and consistent raining, there are low-hanging trees and large debris on the roadway.
3:30 p.m., 8.15.26: Hawaiʻi Police Department advises you to AVOID Plumeria St. between Hawaiʻi Belt Rd (Hwy. 19) and Lehua St. due to electric lines on road for the next 6 hours.
Road closed, local traffic only.
3:08 p.m,. 8.15.26: Hawaii PD advises you that Kahikopele Street in Mt. View between S Kopua and Apele Rd is CLOSED due to flooding. Avoid the area.
2:21 p.m., 8.15.26: Hawaiʻi Police Department advises you to AVOID Pauahi Street near Kamehameha Avenue and Aupuni Street due to heavy flooding for the next 3 hours. Use alternate route.
2:11 p.m. 8.15.26: Hawaiʻi Island. Bayfront Hwy is partially closed from Mile 1-2.5 due to flooding. Inbound traffic is allowed to Wailoa Bridge. Outbound at Wailoa Bridge is restricted.
2:11 p.m., 8.15.26: Hawaiʻi Police Department advises you to AVOID Kamehameha Avenue near Manono St. and Ponahawai St. due to heavy flooding for the next 6 hours.
1:34 p.m. 8.15.26: Hawaiʻi Island. Both lanes of Mamalahoa Hwy between Mile 15-16 are closed due to fallen trees
12:44 p.m., 8.15.26: Hawaiʻi Island: Power lines are down at Mile 36 of Hawaiʻi Belt Road. HECO has been notified. HDOT is also responding.
12:04 p.m. 8.15.26: Hawaiʻi Police Department advises you that Highway 11 (between the 60 & 61 mile markers) is CLOSED due to flooding.
11:50 a.m., 8.15.26: Hawaiʻi Police Department advises you to AVOID Highway 11 (between the 66.5 & 69.5 mile markers) due to fallen trees. This portion of the highway is CLOSED.
11:23 a.m, Hawaiʻi Island: Maunaloa Highway (route 11), both lanes are closed at mile 66-68 due to trees down and basketball sized rocks on the road between Mile 57 and 62. Crews are en route.
9:20 a.m., 8.15.26: Hawaii Island. Road closed at MM 53.7 on Hawaiʻi Belt Road (Rte. 19) between Mana Road and Iokua Place due to flooding. Please avoid the area.
9:09 a.m., 8.15.26: North Kohala District. Hwy 250 closed from Hawi Rd to HPA. Local traffic only. Use Hwy 270 until further notice.
9:00 a.m., 8.15.26: Oʻahu. The H-1 eastbound right lane and the Likelike offramp will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. today (8/15) to repair a damaged attenuator.
8:25 a.m., 8.15.26: Kohala Mountain Rd. (Route 250) is closed between Hawaiʻi Preparatory Academy to the Akoni Pule Hwy. (Route 270) junction at Hawi, per Hawaiʻi Police Department due to unsafe conditions of down branches, limbs and trees.
5:40 a.m., 8.15.26: Hawaiʻi Island: A fallen tree is blocking both lanes of Highway 19 between mile 15-16 on the north side of Hakalau Bridge.
5:10 a.m., 8.15.26: Oʻahu: Multiple lanes on the H-1 eastbound before the Likelike offramp are blocked due to a multi-vehicle crash. Drive with caution.
5:04 a.m., 8.15.26: Oʻahu: Motor vehicle crash on H-1 westbound between the Kaamilo St. and Kaonohi St. overpasses blocking two left lanes. HPD on the scene awaiting a tow truck.
1:57 a.m., 8.15.26: Hawaiʻi Island: Crews are responding to a motor vehicle crash and fallen tree on Route 19 near mile 53, Waimea side. Proceed with caution.
