Courts on Hawaiʻi Island and in Maui County to close due to severe weather 

Courts and Judiciary operations on Hawaiʻi Island (Third Circuit) will be closed Thursday, Sept. 24, and Friday, Sept. 25, due to anticipated severe weather from Tropical Storm Nolo, which is expected to strengthen into a hurricane. Courts and Judiciary operations on Maui, Molokaʻi, and Lānaʻi (Second Circuit) will be closed Friday, Sept. 25.

At this time, courts and Judiciary operations on Oʻahu (First Circuit) and Kauaʻi (Fifth Circuit) are expected to remain open.

All hearings and trials scheduled during the closures will be rescheduled.

Chief Justice Vladimir P. Devens will issue court orders extending filing deadlines affected by the closures. The orders will be posted here on the Judiciary website.

The deadline for documents due in the Third Circuit on Thursday, Sept. 24, or Friday, Sept. 25, is being extended until Monday, Sept. 28. The deadline for documents due in the Second Circuit on Friday, Sept. 25, is being extended until Monday, Sept. 28.
