Sixteen Maui companies have been selected as recipients of county assistance to participate in the upcoming Made in Hawaii Festival.
The festival, held from August 16-18 on Oahu, features Made in Hawaii products including food, books, art, gifts, fashion, plants, crafts and produce, county officials said.
According to the announcement, the Maui Office of Economic Development partnered with INNOVATE Hawaii to offer assistance to a select number of Maui companies with a free booth and/or stipend to offset travel expenses.
The participants include three companies from Molokai, and more than a dozen from Maui.
Companies identified for assistance under the joint program include: Adoboloco; Aloha Botanicals Maui; D’Rae Designs; Lako Kula Designs; Maui Bling by Deneen; Maui’s Dee-Lites; Maui Dog Treats; Maui Upcountry Jams & Jellies; Maui Preserved; Patticakes Bakery; P*sters; Sweet Paradise Chocolatier; 808 Clothing Inc.; Kalapaki Girl (Molokai); Kupu Aʻe (Molokai); Art Beads Maui (Molokai).
County officials say an estimated 38,000 people are expected to attend the 19th annual festival, which is known to attract retail buyers and distributors, who come to find new products unique to the islands.
Representatives from INNOVATE Hawaii, noted that the Made In Hawaii Festival is “a great way for companies to gain market exposure and test new products with much lower risk and expense than trying to reach individual customers directly.”
