Lānaʻi House Fire Caused $350,000 in Damages

A weekend house fire on Lānaʻi resulted in an estimated $350,000 in damage, according to updated reports released by fire officials.
“After the investigation and until more information is provided, the cause of the fire is undetermined. The area of origin has been identified generally as the garage area,” said Fire Captain Paul Haʻake.
According to Capt. Haʻake, the fire caused $250,000 in damage to the structure, $50,000 to its contents, and $50,000 to miscellaneous vehicles within the property including a Hummer mentioned in news reports.
The fire was reported at 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2013 on the corner of Jacaranda Street and Third Avenue. Later information pinpointed the location as 260 Ilima Avenue, which is the same property, but extends to the next cross street.
No injuries were reported, and residents impacted were being assisted by the Red Cross agency.
