The second of two rallies on Maui will be held today (Monday, April 05, 2010) by workers at the Department of Human Services who are hoping to save their jobs and offices from planned cuts and closures.

Today’s rally takes place in advance of key legislative voting on the matter.  The rally begins at 5 p.m. on Kaahumanu Avenue fronting the Old Kahului Shopping Center.

DHS plans to lay off 228 workers and close 31 offices, including those providing services to welfare, Medquest and food stamp beneficiaries on Maui.
