Lahaina Civic Center Gym Closed in October

The Lahaina Civic Center Gym will be closed for the entire month of October to facilitate refinishing of the court’s wood flooring, county officials announced.

Officials with the Department of Parks and Recreation say the work will include the stripping of the floor to bare wood, painting new graphics and game lines and applying a state-of-the-art clear finish.

The 2,400-seat Lahaina Civic Center takes center stage annually during the nationally televised EA SPORTS Maui Invitational, which will be held on Nov. 25, 26 and 27, this year.

Participating teams in 2013 include Arkansas, Baylor, California, Dayton, Gonzaga, Minnesota, Syracuse and host Chaminade.

Department officials apologized for the inconvenience.
