PHOTOS: Safeway Maui Lani Sneak Peek, VIP Event

The new Safeway Maui Lani hosted a VIP event on Thursday featuring hula performed by Halau O Ka Hanu Lehua, taste-testing, and a sneak peek into the store’s 24-hour offerings.
The new location across from HP Baldwin High School includes an in-store pharmacy, a Bank of Hawaii branch, a Starbucks Coffee counter, and free wireless internet service.
Located in the heart of Central Maui, the new store also includes an expanded deli, bakery, fresh seafood and poke section, floral, wine and spirits, and prepared food offerings.
“We are thrilled to open our fourth store on Maui, which provides the community with another great shopping option,” said George Glukfeld, Hawaiʻi district manager in a media release statement.
He continued saying, “This year marks Safeway’s 50th anniversary of doing business in the Islands and serving the people of Hawaiʻi, and we are delighted to be celebrating this continuing, long-lasting relationship with a wonderful new store.”
The 59,000 square-foot store employs 165 team members and is the anchor tenant of the 105,000 square-feet Maui Lani Center. It is the fourth location on Maui, and the 21st store in the state.
The Safeway Foundation also made a special presentation during the VIP event which included $5,000 in donations to two Wailuku non-profit organizations–Imua Family Services and the Hui Malama Learning Center.
