Mama’s Fish House Gets Top 10 Ranking on TripAdvisor

Mama’s Fish House in Pāʻia earned a top 10 ranking in the TripAdvisor’s Best of 2013 Traveler’s Choice award for restaurants in the US, the travel website announced today.

“The awards honor travelers’ favorite fine dining establishments worldwide, based on millions of valuable reviews and opinions on TripAdvisor,” the company said in a press release.

Mama’s Fish House was ranked 10th on the US list which also included: (1) Colicchio and Sons Main Dining Room, New York City; (2) Restaurant Gary Danko, San Francisco, California; (3) Victoria & Albert’s, Orlando, Florida; (4) Commander’s Palace, New Orleans, Louisiana; (5) The French Room, Dallas, Texas; (6) Halls Chophouse, Charleston, South Carolina; (7) Inn at Little Washington, Washington, Virginia; (8) L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon, Las Vegas, Nevada; and (9) Uchiko, Austin, Texas.

According to the announcement, the awards recognize 171 restaurants, covering 13 countries and seven regions around the globe.

There was also a separate list published for Favorite Fine Dining Restaurants Worldwide.

“It’s always food for thought when we tap our community for their favorite restaurants. This year, they’ve highlighted some amazing eateries in popular destinations, but also uncovered some hidden gems that are off the beaten path,” said Barbara Messing, chief marketing officer for TripAdvisor in the announcement.

Hawaiʻi and the Island of Maui also fared well in other lists published throughout the year by the travel website, including the following 2013 Traveler’s Choice awards:

• Top 20 hotels in the US: (1) Four Seasons Resort Hualālai at Historic Ka’ūpūlehu in Kailua-Kona; (2) The Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea; (6) Four Seasons Resort Lānaʻi, The Lodge at Koele in Lānaʻi City; and (19) Koa Kea Hotel & Resort in Poʻipū.
• Top 10 hotels for romance in the US: (10) The Koa Kea Hotel & Resort in Poʻipū.
• Top 25 destinations in the US: (9) Honolulu Hawaiʻi; (18) Lahaina, Maui; and (22) Kailua-Kona, Hawaiʻi.
• Top 25 beaches in the US: (1) Kā’anapali Beach in West Maui; (5) Lanikai Beach in Kailua; (6) Wailea Beach, Maui; (10) Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve in Honolulu; (13) Poʻipū Beach Park; (16) Manini’ōwali Beach in Kailua-Kona; and (17) Wai’ānapanapa State Park in Hāna, Maui.
• Top 10 islands in the US: (2) Kaua’i; (5) Maui; and (8) Big Island of Hawai’i.
• Top 25 landmarks in the US: (3) USS Arizona Memorial in Honolulu.
