Forecasters from the NWS say radar at around 9:24 a.m. showed heavy rain extending from Pukalani to the slopes above Kīpahulu.  The agency notes that the rain was nearly stationary and the advisory includes, but is not limited to the following locations:  Wailuku, Lahaina, Kapalua, and Hāna.

The agency advises the public to stay away from streams, drainage ditches, and low-lying areas that are prone to flooding.  Motorists and pedestrians are also reminded not to cross fast flowing or rising water in their vehicle or on foot.

The advisory may be extended beyond 12:45 p.m. if heavy rain persists.
