Victim’s Pants and Jeep Stolen in Kīhei Attack

Maui police are seeking the public’s help with information relating to an attack reported in South Maui in which the victim was punched in the face and lost consciousness before his pants and vehicle were stolen, according to police.

The incident was reported at around 10:55 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, in the beach area along South Kīhei Road.

Police say the male victim parked his Jeep along the beach fronting South Kīhei Road near the ʻOhukai intersection.

According to police reports, the victim went for a walk along the beach in the Wailea direction when he was approached by three men described as local and in their early 20s, wearing dark jeans and dark hoodies, who asked for five dollars.

One of the suspects was described as 5’8″ to 6′ tall, weighing 150 to 160 pounds, with dark hair.

Police say the victim briefly lost consciousness and fell to the ground when he was attacked from behind by two of the men who allegedly punched him in the face.

According to police reports, the perpetrators stole the victim’s pants and vehicle keys before stealing his vehicle, which was described as a 1987 Gold Jeep Grand Cherokee, with license plate number LBU776.

Police say the suspects were last seen headed north on South Kīhei Road.
