Action Sports Apparel Retailer Zumiez Coming to Maui

National retailer, Zumiez, an action and sports apparel company, will open a store at the Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center on Maui this fall.

This is the third announcement in as many months of a new national retailer coming to the shopping center this year.

The location is the first of its kind on the neighbor islands for Zumiez.

“Zumiez is a great compliment to our expanding family of name-brand retailers,” said Todd A. Vines, marketing manager for Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center in a press release statement.

“We have a natural audience for action sports styles on Maui, and we’re proud Zumiez selected Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center for its first Hawai‘i location outside of O‘ahu,” he said.

Zumiez is described as a “multi-channel specialty retailer of action sports related apparel, footwear, equipment and accessories, focusing on skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing, motocross and BMX for young men and women.”

Zumiez, which also operates under the name Blue Tomato, has a total of 552 stores, including 512 in the US, 28 in Canada, and 12 in Europe, according to Vines.

The news comes on the heels of announcements that national retailers Vans and Charlotte Russe will open their first locations in the neighbor islands at Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center this summer.
