By Wendy Osher
A wind advisory is in effect for the Lānaʻi and Kahoʻolawe in Maui County until 6 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2014.
The National Weather Service is forecasting winds to be from the northeast blowing at 20 to 35 mph with localized gusts upwards of 45 mph through tonight.
Forecasters say, “winds this strong can bring down tree branches and make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.”
The NWS also issued wind advisories for parts of Oʻahu and the Big Island of Hawaiʻi, saying the strongest winds are forecast over the Koʻolau and Waiʻanae mountains of Oʻahu, and the leeward Kohala, Waimea to Kawaihae corridor, and western Saddle areas near South Point of Hawaiʻi Island.
Motorists in affected areas are advised to drive with extra caution.
