92nd Maui Fair Issues Call for Exhibit Entries

The Maui Fair is accepting entries for both its livestock and poultry exhibit and its hobbies and crafts exhibit for the upcoming 2014 Fab Fair that runs from October 2 to 5, 2014.

Livestock and Poultry Exhibit Entry Information:

Entry forms, rules and regulations for the livestock and poultry exhibits are available at the Maui Fair website in the “Livestock & Poultry” selection under the “Download Packets” tab.

Entries will be accepted on a first come basis in two categories–the youth division for entrants age 17 years and younger, or in the adult division.

The deadline to apply for the livestock and poultry exhibit is Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014.

Hobbies and Crafts Exhibit Entry Information: 

Exhibit rules and regulations, judging criteria and entry forms are available at the Cooperative Extension Service office, Ben Franklin in Queen Kaʻahumanu Center, at the Maui Fair Office (open daily from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Friday) located in the War Memorial Gymnasium Parking Lot (call before coming 808 242-2721), or online at the Maui Fair website.

All entries must be registered and dropped off at the War Memorial Gym in Wailuku between 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014. Pickup is on Sunday, Oct. 5 between 8 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Maui Fair Products & Services Tent:

This year the commercial and products and services tents will be consolidated because of a new fairgrounds layout. All community service groups are invited to be an exhibitor in what is now the Maui Fair products and services tent

Maui Fair Parade Entry Information: 

The Maui Fair parade is scheduled to take place at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014.   It is touted as the biggest on the Valley Isle, and traditionally features participation from various community groups, organizations and businesses.

Applications are available for download online at the Maui Fair website and can be dropped off at the Maui Fair office, located in the parking lot of the War Memorial Gymnasium in Wailuku between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.  (Call 242-2721 in advance to make sure someone is at the office.)

The deadline to apply for entry into the 92nd Maui Fair Parade is Friday, Sept. 12, 2014 by 2 p.m.

There’s also a mandatory parade meeting at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Alexa Higashi Meeting Room from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014.

The Maui Fair was first celebrated on Maui in 1916, and has since grown to include an attendance estimated at 95,000 people.  The family-friendly event features multicultural food, entertainment, an EK Fernandez Joy Zone, plus horticulture, bonsai, livestock, homemaking, photo and art exhibits and competitions.
