AREAA Aloha Collecting Donations for Kea Street Fire Victims
By Maui Now Staff
The Asian Real Estate Association of America is helping to provide aid to a family of 11 whose home on Kea Street in Kahului burned down on May 4, 2015.
“Please join us in collecting donations,” said AREAA Aloha President and Co-founder Alexandra D. Schaub. “This family will need your kokua and all the help you can give.
Schaub spent half-a-day shopping with the family for the bare necessities–mainly clothing and blankets for all 11 family members.
“This is just the beginning,” said Schaub. “While we cannot replace any of the lost memorabilia, we sure can create a new memorable beginning by showing we care. It is so important for this family to know they are not out there all alone. The generosity of giving, however small or big, goes a long way.”
The AREAA Aloha Chapter, a 501(c)6 nonprofit organization, has set up donation drop off locations on Maui and Oʻahu to collect non-monetary donations and gift cards (Costco, Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Safeway, Foodland, etc. ) Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. until May 28.
The association will present all collected donations to the family at their home on Saturday, May 30, 2015.
