Guillermo Showers Expected Today

A High Surf Warning is posted through 6:00 a.m. Friday for the east-facing shores of Maui and Moloka’i. Expect ocean water occasionally sweeping across portions of beaches. Very strong breaking waves and strong longshore rip currents. Breaking waves may occasionally impact harbors making navigating the harbor channel dangerous.
A Small Craft Advisory has replaced the Tropical Storm Warning for Maui County windward waters. Winds of 15 to 30 knots out of the northwest are forecasted with rough seas up to 15 feet. Inexperienced mariners should avoid navigating in these conditions.

Today
Today we expect high temperatures from 86° to 91°. Southeast winds 15 to 25 mph with gust up to 35 mph are expected in the morning. Partly sunny skies are forecasted today. Some windward areas will get frequent showers in the morning with scattered showers in the afternoon. Select leeward spots will also catch a few scattered showers.

Tonight
East winds are expected tonight from 15 to 20 mph. Partly cloudy skies are forecasted with scattered showers for windward spots and isolated showers in leeward areas. Low temperatures from 72° to 77° are expected.
Looking Ahead
Tropical depression Guillermo located northeast of the state is forecast to continue to weaken and move west of the state Friday. Guillermo will bring scattered showers over the state tonight mainly for windward areas. East southeast winds will build in on Friday, and shift to trade winds Saturday into early next week.
