Baisa Calls for Alternatives in Solving Upcountry Water Woes

The Maui Department of Water Supply will discuss alternative ways to mitigate water issues in Maui County during a presentation before the Water Resources Committee on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015.

Committee Chair Gladys Baisa said the group will discuss what legislation can be enacted to help residents Upcountry receive water as the county continues to address a lengthy water meter waiting list.

Baisa said she is working with the department to assess the potential reuse of gray water, review the allowed number of water fixture counts per home, and evaluate the efficacy of water catchment tanks to promote water conservation.

The item surfaces for review at the committee’s 9 a.m. meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015.
