A Flood Watch remains in effect until 6 p.m. Friday for all islands. An unstable and very moist air mass is lingering across the state. This moisture interacting with the land is expected to produce periods of heavy rain and slow-moving downpours that could lead to flash flooding. If that occurs a more urgent Flood Advisory (flooding is imminent) or Flood Warning (flooding is occurring) will be posted by the National Weather Service.

Looking Ahead

Humid conditions are sticking around and the chance of heavy showers is lingering through Friday with flash flooding possible for much of the state. Weak trade winds should begin to fill in Friday with moderate trades expected Saturday. Showers are expected to favor windward and mauka areas, afternoon clouds and spotty showers can be expected over leeward areas. Forecast uncertainty increases significantly on Monday and Tuesday, hinging on the eventual track of hurricane Ignacio. Hurricane Ignacio will approach the Big Island late in the weekend and may threaten the islands early next week. Forecast track errors at that time are more than a couple hundred miles, so it is too early to tell what the direct impacts will be.
