UPDATE: Two Men Hospitalized After Molokaʻi Shooting

Two men are hospitalized with gunshot wounds after a shooting incident reported on Molokaʻi on Wednesday afternoon.
On Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015 at 2:30 p.m., police responded to the Hoʻolehua area of Molokaʻi for a 9-1-1 call reporting a person had been shot.
According to an updated police report, Molokaʻi patrol officers responded to a home on Puʻu Kapele Avenue where two individuals were, each with a gunshot wound.
Police say it was determined that the two people had been shot at an area away from the home.
The two victims were taken from the residence via ambulance. One of the victims, a 52-year-old man, was taken to Molokaʻi Airport and transported via Air Ambulance to a hospital on Oʻahu. The other, a 37-year-old man, was initially taken to the Molokaʻi General Hospital, and has since been flown to Oʻahu for further care.
As of Thursday, Oct. 15, both victims were in the care of the Queen’s Medical Center on Oʻahu where they are being treated for gunshot wounds. Police say one person remains in critical condition and the other in guarded condition.
Maui police say there have been no arrests at this time and an investigation is ongoing.
This is the second shooting incident reported on the island this month.
On October 5, a shooting was reported on Kulawai Loop in Kaluakoi on the west end of the island. In that incident, police say a 24-year-old Molokaʻi man accidentally shot himself. The victim, Marianito Alavazo, Jr. later died after he was flown to Maui for further treatment.
