Maui County Shines Green Light in Support of Veterans

The County of Maui Building has illuminated in green last night as part of a national campaign in support of veterans.

The “GreenLight A Vet” campaign was created to establish visible national support by changing one light to green.

Green was chosen to represent hope, renewal and well-being, and signify forward movement. It was launched to spark a national conversation regarding recognition of veterans.

Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa encourages all others in the community to jump on board by changing a light at their home or office to green as part of the “GreenLight a Vet” campaign between now and the end of this week or even to the end of the month to show support.

Participants can then share their support by taking a picture of their green light and posting it online using the hashtag #greenlightavet.

Mayor Arakawa joined Managing Director Keith Regan and Mayoral Executive Assistant Zeke Kalua helped to light up the county building on the evening of Veterans Day with a green spotlight to proudly show the county’s support for veterans.
