UPDATE: Overnight Shooting on Waiehu Beach Road Under Investigation

Maui police are investigating a shooting reported in Wailuku last night in the parking lot fronting Ray’s Deli and Lounge, located at 270 Waiehu Beach Road.
The incident stemmed from a disorderly conduct report just after 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2016, in which police say more than 20 individuals were involved in a physical altercation. There was also a report of a gun being fired at the scene.
Responding officers arrived to find one adult male laying on the ground with injuries and five bystanders near the area. Police say they did not observe fighting upon their arrival.
The male victim, who police say was the alleged gunman, was taken to the hospital in stable condition. A preliminary investigation revealed that the gunman was subdued after firing the gun in an unknown direction. Police say no injuries were reported as a result of the gun being fired, and officers were unable to find the weapon at the scene.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
The incident has been classified as a first degree assault.
