Dear Mayor:
Q: My family frequently use the bike paths in Kīhei, but unfortunately, it gets a little dangerous by Kama‘ole Beach Park III. Vehicles parked on South Kīhei Road around sunset often block the bike lane. What can be done to prevent this from happening in the future?
A: You’re right—the vehicles should not be parking in such a way as to block the bike lane. You can call the non-emergency line of Maui Police Department (244-6400) to report the parking violation. We will ask our park rangers to keep an eye out for violations as well. Mahalo and happy trails.
