Maui Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce Seats New Board
Members of the Maui Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce elected officers for the coming year and welcomed two new members to serve on the board of directors.
A blessing was held for the new board at their first meeting of the new fiscal year on July 5, 2016, kicking off the organization’s 10th Anniversary Year.
New president Teri Freitas Gorman will lead an all-wahine executive team comprised of vice president Mahina Martin; treasurer Shirley Kaihua Blackburn; board secretary Sharron Joseph; and past-president Doreen Pua Canto.
New board members Cory Vicens and Wayne Wong will join Lui Hokoana, Paul Mancini, Boyd Mossman, Kai Pelayo Randy Piltz, Paul Mancini, and Mercer “Chubby” Vicens in their community service.
“We are so fortunate to have such breadth and depth of professional talent on our board,” said Freitas Gorman.
“Our Hawaiian chamber is so active that many people are surprised to hear we are a volunteer-managed organization. The deep commitment of our board is a direct reflection of our leadership over the past decade. We owe our current success to our founding president Boyd Mossman and those who followed him: Jimmy Haynes, Howard Kihune, Chubby Vicens, Kai Pelayo, and Pua Canto,” she said.
